The Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation has begun announcing the 2024-2025 Public School Proud (PSP) Grant recipients! PSP Grants provide educators with funding to bring innovative projects to life, enhancing student engagement and enriching classroom experiences across the district.
This year marks a record breaking year for the Education Foundation—more grants awarded than ever before, more educators recognized, more students impacted, and the highest total investment in creative and impactful learning opportunities. Help us celebrate these outstanding educators and their visionary ideas for students!
Megan Knust was awarded a grant for $1608 for her proposal called "Explore the Creative Process"!
She plans to purchase blacklight flashlights, paintbrushes, premium brush pens, Kwik Stix paint sticks, and a weaving loom craft kit that will be used by 478 students. In the application, she wrote, “Our new elementary art curriculum was adopted in 2024. Each quarter focuses on the different Elements of Art. We are exploring line, shape, color, space, value, form, and texture. I want students to have access to a variety of art mediums and supplies that will help them explore the creative process while connecting it to our new curriculum. I will determine success by observing students’ craftsmanship and original ideas they present in their completed work.”
Alexandra Locy received $712 for her proposal called "Self-Regulation and Sensory Processing Support"!
Mrs. Locy plans to purchase a sensory swing, mini trampoline, sensory pads, and floor mats. In the application, she wrote, “Sensory activity and heavy-work equipment improves students’ engagement and motivation by providing safe input for energy and sensory needs and helps students gain a better understanding of where their body is and what it should be doing. Students with sensory processing challenges might need more physical input than they would receive, and heavy-work activities can provide these supports. I will determine the success through observations and documentation of improved work outcomes and an increase in positive behaviors and self-regulation skills.”
Congratulations to Mrs. Knust and Mrs. Locy. Susan B. Anthony School is so proud of you both!
